Under close to ideal sowing conditions, the crop competition was sown at Longerenong on April 29.

an inspection of challenge site by Mark Slatter, Sam Price and Rob Christie Wednesday May 11 showed:
· no insect damage, site is free of redlegs and grass hoppers
· no mice, we did bait with Mouse Off
· weed free
· slow/patchy germination due to drying soils
· plots have about 10-20plants /sqm
· site needs some rain!!!
